A groundbreaking ceremony was held on November 6, 2024, marking the start of construction for a new multi-purpose center set to rise in Barangay 88, San Jose, Tacloban City.

The event was led by Liga ng mga Barangay President and Brgy. 88 Chairperson Hon. Raymund Romualdez, together with KALAHI-CIDSS Deputy National Program Manager for Operations Rolando Villacorta Jr., Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII Regional Director Grace Subong, DSWD VIII Assistant Regional Director for Operations Antonio Dolaota, City Department Heads, Barangay 88 Council, residents, and other community stakeholders in attendance.

Hon. Raymund Romualdez expressed deep gratitude to the community for their trust and confidence in him and his leadership. He assured that additional initiatives are in the pipeline that will further benefit the residents of Brgy. 88.

Meanwhile, Rolando Villacorta Jr. emphasized the collective efforts that made the project possible. Villacorta called the project a testament to the resilience and unity of Brgy. 88, with hopes that it will inspire more collective action in the future.

The new center, once completed, will provide a space for community gatherings, events, and essential services, aiming to enhance the quality of life for residents.
