TACRU brings mobile community pantry to Brgy. Paglaum
Tacloban City (04.26.21) – Tacloban City Rescue Unit (TACRU) initiated their Mobile Community Pantry with the constituents from Brgy. 103-A Paglaum as their first recipients, last Sunday, April 25, 2021.
With the tagline “Bulig Han Katawhan Para Han Nanginginahanglan,” their first community pantry was made possible in cooperation with LIT HS Batch 90 and donations from different private organizations and individuals including TACRU staff, personnel, and volunteers.
According to TACRU Head Ms. Lutgarda Barredo- Raagas, the initial plan is to be able to serve the northern barangays and bring the pantry to their respective areas. However, the possibility to reach barangays in other areas is being considered too. This initiative is being done thru their personal capacity, that is why the mobile community pantry is activated on weekends by those who are not on official duty, she added.
“Malipayon ako han outcome kakulop han amon syahan nga pag set-up hini nga mobile community pantry. Masisiring ko nga malinampuson adto tungod nga nahipaabot namon an tambulig nga nagtikang gihapon hin mga concerned citizens and groups hin mamingaw ngan systematic tungod nga nakipag-coordinate kami han mga barangay officials ngan nagsunod han mga tawo an minimun health protocols,” Ms. Raagas said.
Furthermore, Ms. Raagas mentioned that they are accepting “in kind” donations from kindhearted individuals and groups who wish to extend their help for the sustainability of the said mobile community pantry. Their office which is along Justice Romualdez St. is open to recieve these donations.
Meanwhile, their next stop is still on the process of coordination with the barangay, however, they have started preparing for the next operation which is this coming weekend.
