TACLOBAN CITY PREPS FOR 2023 SGLG ASSESSMENT
As part of the preparations for the incoming regional assessment of the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), heads and representatives of city government departments submitted their offices’ respective “means of verification” (or documents) to the ‘mock assessment’ activity organized by the City DILG on Thursday, May 25.
Held on the third floor conference room of the City Hall New Building, officials of the local office of DILG perused documents and interviewed heads to make sure that the offices are compliant with the standards required in 10 assessment areas: (1) Financial Administration and Sustainability; (2) Disaster Preparedness; (3) Social Protection and Sensitivity; (4) Health Compliance and Responsiveness; (5) Sustainable Education; (6) Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; (7) Safety, Peace, and Order; ( Environmental Management; (9) Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture, and Arts; and (10) Youth Development.
Also present was City DILG Dir. Engr. Visitacion V. Giva, who said that the pre-assessment activity was done to prepare the concerned frontline offices for the actual regional assessment on June 8, 2023.
“We are having a mock assessment so we can determine this early what the lacking documents are that we need to comply with pertaining to the 10 assessment areas and prepare them ahead of the actual assessment so we will be able to get the SGLG Seal this year,” said Giva.
The Tacloban City Government is a five-time SGLG awardee, having aced the seal in the years 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022.
