December 21, 2021 No Comments on Tacloban City is set to host the mock electionsTacloban City is set to host the mock elections of the Commission on Election at two identified primary schools on December 29, wherein 200 residents are expected to participate in preparation for the 2022 local and national polls.
In a coordination meeting, City Election Officer Atty. Ma. Goretti Cañas mentioned that Panalaron Central School in Brgy 6 and Sto Niño Elementary School in Brgy. 106 will be the designated venues for the simultaneous election dry-run and will operate starting 7:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
Said simulation is pursued to test and ensure the security and efficacy of the voting process and the implementation of the basic health protocols, as City Health Office staff will be deployed at the identified venues. Tacloban COMELEC is looking at 257 clustered precincts with 143, 546 qualified voters expected to troop at voting centers on May 9, 2022, to exercise their right of suffrage. Based on their records, to date, a total of three (3) are up for mayorship, two (2) are vying for the vice-mayor, and 26 are aspirants for councilors.
