Tacloban City Gov’t lines up activities for 6th Yolanda Anniversary
November 6, 2019 No Comments on Tacloban City Gov’t lines up activities for 6th Yolanda AnniversaryTACLOBAN CITY (CIO) — The organizing committee of the 6th Yolanda Anniversary met at the City Mayor’s Office Boardroom on Tuesday to discuss activities of the Yolanda Commemoration this Thursday and Friday.
On November 7 a 6:00 pm a Holy Mass will be celebrated at the Anibong Shipwreck with City Government Employees and Officials. The event will include a wreath-laying and candle offering ceremony.
All vehicles plying the Anibong road are advised to take alternative routes starting at 1 pm on Thursday as the said road will be closed for the memorial service.
On Friday, November 8 a 7:00 am Holy Mass will be held at the Mass Grave Memorial. The event will highlight a Wreath-laying ceremony, Blessing of Mass Grave and Marker and releasing of doves.
The commemorative program at the Tacloban City Convention Center (Astrodome) will be held at 3:00 pm. Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez will lead attendees to the program that will include Senator Imee Marcos, Senator Cynthia Villar, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, Leyte 1st District Congressman Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Tingog Party-list Representative Yedda Marie Romualdez.
Office of Civil Defense Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad and Presidential Anti-corruption Commission Chairman Dante Jimenez has also signified their attendance during the program.
The program will have presentations from local dance group Samleyaw and the I Love Tacloban Band.
Highlighting the program is the Lighting of the Astrodome Memorial Flame, the wreath-laying ceremony, and Blessing of Marker.
The customary lighting of candles along the sidewalks of the City will start after the simultaneous ringing of bells in Churches at 6:00 pm.
Tingog Partylist has canceled its scheduled concert in the evening to assist quake victims in Mindanao.
Mayor Romualdez signed an Executive Order suspending classes in all levels of Public and Private Schools, and work in Government Offices in Tacloban City on November 8 to allow Taclobanons time to commemorate the 6th Anniversary of Super Typhoon Yolanda.
