December 5, 2019 No Comments on Tacloban City bag awards in 2019 POPDEV SummitTACLOBAN CITY (CIO) — The City Government of Tacloban was conferred the ‘Best Population Office’ honor by the Commission on Population Regional Office 8 on Thursday, December 5 during the Regional Population and Development Summit cum Kaunlarang Pantao Awards at One Star Events Place, this City.
Acting City Administrator Atty. Ivy Carba who represented Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez City, along with Population Office Head Cielito Esquibel received the Plaque of Recognition from POPCOM 8.
Apart from the award received by the City, Esquibel also copped the Regional Outstanding City Population Officer, while Gemma Penaflor, one of the volunteers here, was recognized as the ‘Regional Outstanding Barangay Service Point Officer’.
In an interview, Esquibel said the success will not be possible without the support of the local Chief Executive and contribution of her staff in terms of providing excellent service to the people of Tacloban.
“We will continue to render great services and programs to our people. All we want is to give Taclobanons a better quality of life,” she added.
Meanwhile, POPCOM 8 Assistant Regional Director Melanie Alberto lauded the population program officers, workers, and volunteers for their passion and determination in pursuing the goals and objectives of the Philippine Population Management Program.
“I hope that this will serve as your inspiration…motivation to continue our service to our clientele,” she stressed.
The said Regional Population and Development Summit cum Kaunlarang Pantao awards included activities such as the presentation-cum-discussion on POPDEV and honored the work dedication of the local population offices and its workers.
POPCOM 8 Regional Director Elnora Pulma and some Provincial and Municipal local government officials also graced the awarding ceremony. – C. Merin/CIO
