PUV drivers, operators face fine; warn to enforce health protocols vs COVID19
June 4, 2021 No Comments on PUV drivers, operators face fine; warn to enforce health protocols vs COVID19Some drivers and operators of Public Utility Vehicles have been issued citation tickets due to driving without a business permit and warned of noncompliance with the minimum health standards, amid the uptrend of cases of COVID19.
The violators were flagged down in a surprise inspection and expanded enforcement operation conducted by the city government thru the Business Permits and Licenses Division, and personnel of TOMECO and Tacloban PNP.
According to Gerry Abilar, BPLD Transport Section in-charge, drivers should ensure that plastic barriers and disinfection for passengers inside the vehicles should be properly installed, and observance of social distancing, wearing of facemask and face shield must be implemented. To avoid being apprehended, he added, drivers should bring with them a copy of their business permit and other pertinent documents when driving. Currently, out of the 1500 PUJ that need to be registered this year, only roughly 300 have renewed their permits.
