This is to provide immediate heath interventions and know the current situation of the affected patients in order to fight the rise of dengue cases in the city.
Along with the visitation, Mayor Romualdez also reiterated the call for the public to seek consultation at the nearest health facilities once they experience the signs and symptoms and don’t wait for it to get worse.

“I’m appealing to the public lalo na kasi nakita ko na we had a few deaths nitong nakaraang linggo and mostly coming from the resettlement areas in the North. So I encouraged all parents to bring your children to the closest health center. Pa check-up lang, walang mawawala sa inyo,” said the City Mayor.
“Kaylangan malaman ng publiko na dengue is practically 100% curable if detected early. In fact we are identifying those who have symptoms, so we can attend to them immediately because kaylangan wala na talagang fatality, kaylangan magamot,” he added.
As of July 26, 750 suspected dengue cases been reported in the city with 8 deaths from barangays 28, 71, 74, 68, 99, 94, 97 and 100.
Moreover, Dr. Jaime Opinion, City Health Officer stated that out of the 138 barangays in Tacloban City, 95 of it are affected.

“Mostly are from the Northern barangays and all the gated population kay tungod man gud ine na mga lugar kay harani hin mga balay. And as to the information of everyone the mosquito can travel 1-200 meters. Kun it imo lugar harani hin mga balay, that’s the problem” explained Dr. Opinion.
Also, the City Health Officer shared that due to the limited supply of dengue rapid test kit, CHO is prioritizing children who are experiencing the symptoms of the illness.
” Limited it aton dengue rapid test. Kinokoncentrate po namin sa mga bata na may symptoms kay based on statistics ang recovery sa aged group ng mga matatanda is high kontra han bata. If you are more than 15 or 16 and above,it imo kinahanglan la ito is pagininom hin damo nga tubig with ORESOL (Oral Rehydration Solution),” he emphasized.
Meantime, the hydration unit which started operation last Sunday was intended to accommodate patients who could no longer be admitted in hospitals in the City due to the number of patients seeking treatment.- CBM/CIO
