Mayor Romualdez leads the opening of North Tacloban Market, distributes farm equipment
August 31, 2019 No Comments on Mayor Romualdez leads the opening of North Tacloban Market, distributes farm equipmentTACLOBAN CITY (CIO) — Farmers associations in the northern part the city has been awarded hand tractors and market stalls at Supermarket during the launching of “Taboan ha Norte Tacloban,” an open public market at the City Hall North Extension grounds in Brgy. 106 Sto. Niño on Saturday, August 31.
Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez together with OIC Market Superintendent Joel Bugho and City Agriculture Office Head Alfredo Camposano handed over the farm cultivators to the 9 farmers association and awarded the slots of market stalls at Supermarket to the 12 farmers association, right after the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
According to Bugho, this is part of the overall vision of Mayor Romualdez for the northern area of Tacloban which is to boost agricultural productivity.

“Ginkikita-kita han aton administrasyon, under the leadership of Mayor Alfred na kinahanglan naton hin food security ngan nakita gihap niya na we need to develop the agricultural potential dinhi ha North,” he stressed.
Also, Camposano, in his speech said that with the hand tractors, the agricultural production of the city, especially in the North will increase and it will be a great help for the farmers as this will lighten their farm labor.
The farmers association that received the hand tractors were United Basper Farmers Association (FA), Association of G.E. Palanog Farmers Integrated for Development, Palanog Farmer Beneficiaries Association (PFBA), Bagacay Integrated FA, Camansihay Upland FA (CUFA), Nagkaurusang mga Parag-uma Para sa Seguridad at Ekonomiya, Sto. Niño Integrated FA, Old Kawayan FA and Association of Tagpuro Farmers United for Progress (ATFUP).

Meanwhile, the 12 farmers associations that were awarded market stalls will be designated in the Fruits and Vegetable building at the Tacloban City Supermarket. Among those were Nagkaorosa San Roque Farmers Association (NAGSARFA), Paglaum FA, Sta. Elena Integrated FA (STEIFA), New Kawayan FA (NKFA), Barangay Sto. Niño Bamboo FA, Salvacion FA, Bagacay Integrated FA (BIFA), PFBA, ATFUP, Progressive Women’s Association of Sta. Elena (PROWASTE), Cabalawan Farmers Association (CFA) and CUFA.
Present during the ceremony were Committee Chairperson on Market Councilor Dalisay Erpe, and Councilors Aimee Grafil and Leo Bahin, and other department heads. – C. Merin/CIO
