November 22, 2019 No Comments on LOOK:The final Public Hearing for the proposed ordinance regulating the use of plastic bags and prohibiting the utilization of polystyrene for food products in this City was held today, November 22 at the Tacloban City Training Center.
Councilor Aimee Grafil, the environmental committee chairperson led the public consultation and discussed the purpose of crafting the proposed regulation of Plastic and Styrofoam ordinance, as part of the legislative process.
Also in attendance was City Councilor Leo Bahin, who was the Vice-Chairperson of the said committee along with Councilor Dalisay Erpe and Executive Assistant Atty. Christian De Dios. City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Head Jonathan Hijada likewise joined the discussion and presented the City Government’s efforts in order to reduce plastic wastes in the City.
Meantime, recognizing the importance of addressing the issue, some plastic distributors and other stakeholders graced the hearing to give suggestions for the enhancement of the said ordinance.
