Fire victims get financial aid from City Gov’t
November 6, 2019 No Comments on Fire victims get financial aid from City Gov’tTACLOBAN CITY (CIO) – Cash assistance worth a total Php 570, 000 were distributed on Wednesday by Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez to some 49 families affected by the November 2 fire in Brgy. 37 Reclamation Area.
The distribution of financial aid was held at the City Hall along with Mayor Romuldez, his son Raymund Romualdez and personnel from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the City Treasurer’s Office.
The local Chief Executive in a message expressed gratitude to the City Hall employees who made it possible to fast-track the said distribution of cash assistance.
Mayor Romualdez likewise advised the fire victims to use the money wisely and urged them to transfer to their housing units in the northern part of the City as it is much safer to live in.
Fifteen thousand pesos were given to the 30 homeowners whose houses were damaged, while 5 families with partially damaged houses received Php10, 000 and the 14 sharers got Php5, 000 each.
The said cash aid was in addition to the relief assistance provided by the city to the fire victims immediately after the fire incident. The fire that razed several houses on All Souls’ Day started at around 11:10 am and lasted for more than an hour before firefighters declared it fire out at 12:15 pm.
Also present during the distribution was Committee Chairperson on City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councilor Leo Bahin and Brgy. 37 Punong Barangay Francisco Yerro. – C. Merin/CIO
