TACLOBAN CITY (CIO) – Starting May 22, a three-day Diskwento Caravan will be held at the Plaza Rizal in Tacloban City to offer School supplies, bags, shoes and uniforms including basic goods and prime commodities at discounted prices. The ‘caravan’ will also educate consumers of their rights and responsibilities through a one-hour consumer education seminar on May 23-24, 2019.

The City Government of Tacloban under Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez has partnered with the provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to help consumers augment their budgets in time for the opening of classes this June 3, 2019.

Among the participating wholesalers and retailers of school supplies and other consumer goods are Hanz Graphics & Digital Imaging Center, National Bookstore, Unitop General Merchandise Inc., 578 Resources Inc., Fast Distribution Corporation, Dranix Distribution Corp., RAM Food Products and River Valley Distribution Inc., Dranix Distribution, Savemore Tacloban and Puregold.

According to DTI, the Diskwento Caravan is a regular program which aims to provide relief to workers by way of helping them cope with rising prices of basic commodities and services through non-wage benefits.
