The local government of Tacloban under Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez extended the much-needed aid to city schools on Wednesday morning, August 18, 2021.

Held at Pacific Point in San Jose, a total of 64 elementary and secondary school heads under the division convened to receive their Brigada Eskwela support fund in check— amounting to PHP 50,000—from the local chief executive, who personally led the distribution.

The said aid, intended for the opening of classes in September, forms part of LGU’s commitment to the education sector in ensuring that the youth gets the best possible nurturing, despite the challenges of new learning methods amid the health crisis.

Mayor Romualdez, in his speech, highlighted how schools and their teachers should be great influencers towards the betterment of the students’ future, adding that the city government is committed to providing full assistance and cooperation since education remains one of the top priorities while battling this COVID19 pandemic.

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Mariza Magan along with Dr. Mark Chester Anthony Tamayo, Chief-CID, Dr. Melani Escobarte, Chief-SGOD, and City Councilor Dr. Elvira Casal likewise graced the turnover activity.
