In anticipation of the forthcoming traditional All Saints’ and All Souls’ observance, the local government, through the City Cooperative Development and Livelihood Assistance Office (CCDLAO), will be hosting a Flower and Candle Fair at Plaza Rizal from October 31 to November 2, 2024.
Aimed at providing marketing assistance to local flower growers and candle makers, the fair is scheduled to begin its setup on October 30.
Over 20 flower growers from Barangays 103 Palanog and 110 Utap, the city government-assisted associations, will be among the participants in the said fair.
According to CCDLAO head Ruena Mate, this is designed to offer local cut-flower growers and candle makers a valuable platform to showcase and sell their products, especially during the high-demand season of “Undas”.
Mate also invited flower vendors, especially those selling on the sidewalks, to participate in the 3-day activity. Meanwhile, she advised city-assisted flower growers to keep prices reasonable, despite the expected surge in demand, adding that the fair should also benefit the consumers.
A wide selection of blooms, including baby’s breath, daisies, and chrysanthemums will be available in the said fair.
“This initiative is part of the yearly efforts of the city government to boost livelihood opportunities and ensure that the public has ample options to honor their departed loved ones,” Mate concluded.
