Romualdez is set to turn over the responsibility to continue the maintenance and sustainability of cleared roads to the 138 barangays, after last year’s deadline of the presidential directive to clear roads from illegal structures and obstructions.
In a meeting held Wednesday, February 5 with the City Task Force, City DILG Director Atty. Darwin Bibar said that this is in compliance with the advisory issued by DILG Secretary Eduardo Año dated January 8, 2020, that task barangays to continue and take the lead in the implementation of the road clearing efforts in their respective jurisdictions.
As to the inventory report presented by the City Engineer’s Office, about 75 percent of the roads in Tacloban City are cleared.
Meantime, City DILG is set to conduct a meeting next week, February 12 to the barangay chairpersons at the Rizal Park to further discuss the said matter.
