TACLOBAN CITY (CIO) — More than 2,000 children from the 68 Day Care Centers here participated in a playground demonstration held at Tacloban City Convention Center (Astrodome) on Friday, as part of the 27th National Children’s Month celebration.

The City Government of Tacloban under Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) led the activity, which aims to allow active participation and boost social development of children from the various daycare centers in this City.

Apart from the playground demonstration, highlighted also during the activity was the State of the Children’s Address of the Local Chief Executive.

In his speech, Mayor Romualdez committed programs that will prioritize the concerns of children.

The local Chief Executive likewise emphasized that he will make available additional Child Development Workers to accommodate the increasing number of children in Tacloban.

In attendance during the activity was Officer-in-Charge of CSWDO Fe Chona Bahin along with other daycare workers.

This year’s National Children’s Month Celebration banners the theme “Karapatan Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan Tungo as Magandang Kinabukasan.”– C. Merin/CIO
