Almost a truckload of plastic bottles clogged up the drainage at Tacloban Supermarket
September 14, 2021 No Comments on Almost a truckload of plastic bottles clogged up the drainage at Tacloban SupermarketLast Saturday September 11,2021 at the Tacloban Supermarket, a declogging of the drainages was requested by Market Operations OIC Carlos Dave Castello with the help from City Engineers Office Maintanence Division Head, Engineer Virgilio Concepcion. The cause of the recent flooding in the area especially the past few weeks, we had experienced heavy rains and a typhoon was the accumulated waste of plastic bottles thrown into the drainage holes by the market goers.
A plastic bottle can take from 70 to 450 years to decompose. So we strongly urge everyone and all Taclobanons to be responsible to properly dispose all and any trash in their proper disposal bins. Every week the Market officials and staff conducts declogging of the drainages to avoid getting murky water floods when there is heavy rainfall. In order for us not to experience what we went through 8 years ago, we sternly advice that we follow the proper garbage disposal.
