Tacloban City, Leyte – Tacloban City Public Employment Service Office (TCPESO) recently garnered top honors from the Department of Labor and Employment Office VIII during the Public Employment Service Office Year-End Performance Assessment and Regional PESO Congress, highlighting the office’s exceptional contributions to employment facilitation in the region.

The TCPESO was conferred the “Best PEIS USER 2024 Award,” a recognition of its outstanding performance in Labor Market Information dissemination through the effective implementation of the National Skills Registration Program (NSRP) in Tacloban City. This award signifies the office’s commitment to bridging the gap between job seekers and employment opportunities by providing timely and accurate labor market data.

In addition to this accolade, the office also received the “2024 Leadership in Youth Employment Programs Award” for its exemplary implementation of youth employment and skills development programs. These initiatives include the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), I Love Tacloban Government Internship Program, and the JobStart Philippines Program, all of which provide valuable work experience and skills training to the city’s youth population.

The recognition comes as no surprise, given TCPESO’s active engagement in various career coaching activities across Tacloban City. The office has conducted several career coaching sessions in Eastern Visayas State University, along with its satellite campuses; Marasbaras National High School; Leyte National High School; Leyte Progressive High School, other educational institutions; and even barangay coaching sessions for the youth. These initiatives aim to equip the youth with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the job market and make informed career choices.

TCPESO extends its gratitude to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for granting them with such honor and for continuously supporting our mission to provide meaningful employment services. They also recognize the steadfast collaboration of their partners from both the private and public sectors, who help pave the way for our programs and services to reach those who need them most.

In her message, Ruena Mate, acting Tacloban City PESO manager, reaffirms their dedication to fostering employment opportunities and empowering the local workforce:

“Rest assured, TCPESO will continue to strive for excellence as we work toward our ultimate goal, winning the National Best PESO Award. Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez for his unwavering support of our initiatives. With your trust and collaboration, we remain committed to turning our vision into reality and creating more opportunities for the people of Tacloban.”

The office remains open to assisting Taclobanons with job applications and inquiries. Interested individuals may visit the TCPESO office at Kanhuraw Hill, Tacloban City or reach them through their official Facebook page at [https://www.facebook.com/TaclobanPESO] for more information.
