November 20, 2019 No Comments on 3-day ‘Diskwento Caravan’ opens at Plaza RizalTACLOBAN CITY (CIO) — To provide consumers with affordable and quality Noche Buena items/goods the City Government of Tacloban under Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez has partnered with the provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the three-day Diskwento Caravan Noche Buena Edition at Plaza Rizal this November 20 to 22, 2019 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Around 17 manufacturers and distributors are participating in this year’s caravan said the DTI.
Manufacturers and distributors of necessities and prime commodities like bread, canned meat, cooking oil, detergent soap, instant noodles, milk, biscuits and other prime commodities that the DTI monitor in the market are participants of the Diskwento Caravan.
Also included are the manufacturers and importers of products covered in the DTI’s Product Certification Scheme and those that have been issued the Philippine Standard (PS) license and/or the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) certificate. Among those products with PS or ICC mark available in the caravan are Christmas lights, fluorescent lamps, and other electronic devices.
A regular program of DTI, the Diskwento Caravan aims to provide relief to workers by way of helping them cope with rising prices of basic commodities and services through non-wage benefits, which is usually held every May and November.
Meantime, the Comprehensive Livelihood and Entrepreneurship Program (CLEP) is offering free haircuts and massage to patrons.
Consumers can avail of up to 5% – 10% percent discount depending on the item. – H. J. Roca/CIO
