UNDP, EU donate ERT Multi-purpose Training Center to City Gov’t
TACLOBAN CITY – Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez on behalf of the City Government received a Multi-Purpose Training Center equipped with emergency rescue equipment located on a lot owned by the City last March 15, 2017.
This one-story building was donated by the United Nations Development Programme and the European Union primarily to serve as a Training Center for Emergency Response.
The Turnover Ceremony was attended by UNDP Deputy Country Coordinator Enrico Gaveglia, UNDP Programme Coordinator Eden Garde, Philippine Red Cross Administrator Edwin Pamonag, Philippine Red Cross Board Member Edwin Mañas, BFP City Fire Marshall S. Insp. Leonil Aurelia, TACRU and Access 5 staff.
The center will be the venue for the implementation of a Post-Rehabilitation Program, the Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program of Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez in the grassroots with a target of 2,000 trained Emergency Responders from the different barangays. – GARRETH EDUARD C. NOVILLO/CIO
