Tacloban Pilot Evacuation Center marks 1st year Anniversary
TACLOBAN CITY – The City Government of Tacloban under Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez marked on Thursday, September 20, 2018, the first founding Anniversary of the Tacloban Pilot Evacuation Center located at Brgy. 91 Abucay. The Highlights of the celebration was a feeding activity and fun games for children.
The evacuation facility which sits on a lot owned by the City Government was completed on September 15, 2017, and can accommodate up to 75 families at a time.
Constructed with funds from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the 10-room evacuation center is a ready facility of the local government unit during emergencies and calamities, and also functions as a training/multi-purpose center.
Other features of the two-story building are the women-friendly and child-friendly spaces, such as designated toilets for men and women, and playground area. A stockroom for relief goods and other emergency provisions, a radio room, multi-purpose roof deck, and a room for the camp management team can be found also in the facility.
A ramp is also provided in the building so that Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) can access the facility with ease. (H.J. Roca/CIO)
