TACLOBAN CITY – Some 450 Jobseekers were reported hired in the five Job fairs organized by the City Government under Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) from January to April this year.

According to PESO Manager Emilia Cruz, the newly hired Taclobanons participated in the Job Fairs organized by their office in three schools, namely Leyte Normal University, Eastern Visayas State University and ACLC, the February 28 Job Fair in the Northern Barangays and the MEGA Jobs Fair held last March 30 at the Tacloban City Convention Center.

Meantime, Cruz announced the Special Recruitment Activity (SRA) for Overseas Employment that they will conduct for GHR Healthcare on May 24- 26 at the PESO, to hire Nurses for the United Kingdom.

One Point Contact, Inc. which repairs ATM and PO Machines is also hiring Field Engineers that will be assigned at their Tacloban Office, preferably Male and a graduate of diploma or certificate course in Information Technology and has relevant experience in Computer Hardware repair.

The PESO Manager enjoins interested applicants to visit their office located at Kanhuraw Hill for additional information on the job openings.

PESO is a multi-service employment facility which leads the Jobs generation initiatives of Mayor Romualdez through Career Coaching, Livelihood Assistance and Jobs Solicitation Activities for students and walk-in clients.  The Chief Executive has included in her 10-point Agenda  the provision of livelihood opportunities to unemployed City residents as part of the ongoing rehabilitation efforts of the Local Government Unit.

The office also takes charge of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) a counterpart program with the Department of Labor and Employment, (DOLE) which employed 250 poor but deserving students this year.
