NAT’L EVALUATORS VISIT TACLOBAN FOR 2018 SGLG ASSESSMENT
TACLOBAN CITY – The City Government of Tacloban under Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez is determined to ace the national assessment this year for the 2018 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Executive Assistant Teofila Brosas, together with DILG City Director Atty. Darwin Bibar and the City department heads welcomed yesterday the DILG National Capital Region (NCR) Validation Team composed of Local Government Operations Officers Ana Jury Castillo and Jonathan Garbo at the Tacloban City Training Center Multi-purpose Hall.
The Validation team was tasked to evaluate the overall performance of the City in terms of financial administration, disaster preparedness, and social protection and Peace and Order; and added essential criteria such as Business-friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Management and Tourism Culture and Arts.
The validators conducted ocular visits in key City Government facilities and offices to gauge the Local Government’s adherence to the SGLG Core Assessment and essential areas.
Castillo recognized the efforts of the City Government to meet the standards required by the SGLG.
“We believe in the credibility of the assessment done in the regional level,” she said
The National Assessment was conducted in Tacloban after the local government of Tacloban passed the Regional SGLG Assessment.
Winners of the SGLG will receive an incentive fund called Performance Challenge Fund which can be utilized for the implementation of local development projects.
