TO HELP ease traffic and make Tacloban City Pedestrian-Friendly, the City Government through Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez and the UP National Center for Transportation Studies Foundation, Inc. represented by Director Dr. Ma. Shiela Napalang (second from left) signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Tuesday, November 14 for the conduct of Transport and Traffic Study that will serve as basis for a Comprehensive and Environmentally Sustainable Transport and Traffic Management Plan for the City. The MOA signing  coincided with the first ever Traffic Summit held at Patio Victoria, San Jose attended by Transport Stakeholders and the Academe. In her message the Chief executive underscored the need for a professional and scientific approach to solve the emerging traffic woes of the City. The study will run for six months and will include a consultation with different sectors to address among others, the following traffic issues: the major developments congesting traffic, rampant on-street parking, scattered location of transport terminals, public access to the Central Business District and the need for a resilient city-wide transport System.
