DOLE, City Gov’t distribute livelihood assistance
TACLOBAN CITY -The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the CityGovernment through Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez distributed 13 units of Negocarts on Thursday, November 29 to beneficiaries of the DOLE IntegratedLivelihood Program (DILP).
Romualdez’s representative Atty. Kaye Barreda joined DOLE 8 Assistant Regional
Director Atty. Cecilio Balena and Public Employment Service Office Manager Emilia Cruz during the turnover ceremony held at the City Hall
Building Lobby. The beneficiaries who underwent validation and screening by the
PESO are involved in food vending activities and came from the North
Cruz, the distributed livelihood assistance is part of the 3.2 Million peso
grant from DOLE made available this year to qualified and marginalized workers
involved in livelihood and entrepreneurial ventures in the City.
Last March, 17
units of Pedicabs were released to the first batch of qualified beneficiaries
under the DILP, added the PESO Manager.
PESO reported that before the year ends, additional units of sewing machines,
Negocarts, Sari-sari store, and rice-retailing starter kits will be distributed
to beneficiaries in the North Barangays that include Old Kawayan and Palanog.
The beneficiarieswill undergo monitoring and post implementation activities that includesimplified bookkeeping and entrepreneurship and production, and marketingseminars as part of the thrust of Mayor Romualdez to provide livelihood knowhow to the vulnerable sectors of the City.-H.J. Roca/CIO
