City Gov’t holds 3rd Anti-Drug Summit
TACLOBAN CITY – Presidential Political Adviser Secretary Francis Tolentino was the keynote speaker during the 3rd Anti-Drug Summit held in Tacloban City on Thursday. Secretary Tolentino who was sent by Malacanang to the annual event was joined by Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez and the rest of New Beginnings Technical Working in the afternoon event meant to show the cohesive anti-drug initiatives of the local government and the different multi-sectoral groups in the City.
Tolentino read President Rodrigo Duterte’s message to the event which acknowledged the local government’s contribution to the National Government’s relentless war on drugs.
“I am truly pleased with the consistent efforts of Taclobanons to become drug-free, and I welcome the support of various government agencies…most remarkable in all these is the New Beginnings Program…which is anchored on a more holistic approach…,” read the message of the President.
Meantime, Mayor Romualdez in her speech emphasized the continuing commitment of the City Government on the campaign against drugs.
“The campaign on drugs of the National Government, made us realize that the program is a community problem that involves the family the barangay and local government…we are part and should be at the forefront of the campaign against drugs”, she said.
According to the Chief Executive Tacloban’s Anti-Drug campaign will expand its reach through more advocacy initiatives and the construction of the New Beginnings Balay Silangan, a reformatory and recovery Care Center in the City.
The summit also highlighted a recognition ceremony for the drug-cleared barangays and multi-sectoral partners of the City. (H.J.Roca/CIO)
