City Gov’t, DOLE distribute ‘Starter kits’ to 106 beneficiaries
TACLOBAN CITY – One hundred six (106) beneficiaries received their starter kits on rice retailing on February 1, as part of the livelihood project of the City Government under Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The distributed livelihood assistance on Thursday under DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the City Government included 1 Sack of Rice and Weighing Scale. Present to hand in the assistance was PESO Manager Emilia Cruz, City Livelihood Cluster Head Dr. Eunice Alcantara and City Councilors Evangeline Esperas and Raissa Villasin.
Last year, PESO got a 2.3 Million Grant from DILEEP which was used for livelihood projects that benefited resettled families in Tacloban North.
The target beneficiaries earlier availed of Business and Entrepreneurial Skills Training conducted by the City Livelihood Cluster in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry . The project forms part of the thrust of Mayor Romualdez to provide livelihood opportunities for the qualified working poor, returning OFWs, seasonal workers and senior citizens living in Tacloban North.
