City Gov’t distributes ‘Brigada’ Financial Assistance
TACLOBAN CITY – The City Government on Thursday, May 18 delivered on its commitment to support the upkeep of educational facilities as part of the preparations for the upcoming academic year in June, when it distributed more than 2 Million pesos worth of financial assistance to public elementary and secondary schools.
Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez distributed checks worth 50, 000 pesos each to 43 schools representing the yearly Brigada assistance of the local government.
Mayor Romualdez assured the School Heads present of the City Government’s continued support in the upkeep of City Public School and even committed assistance in the opening of classes in June. Early this week the Mayor made the rounds of Public schools to check on the progress of the ongoing school maintenance program.
The financial assistance given will help defray the cost of maintenance works, minor clean up and repairs in the beneficiary schools.
On Monday, coinciding with the kick-off of the 2017 Brigada Eskwela, the Chief Executive expressed her wish that more will be motivated to contribute their time, effort and resources for the activity that is meant to prepare public school facilities for the upcoming school year. – HENRY JAMES G.
