City Gov’t, EVSU sign MOA on Strategic Planning on Tourism Dev’t
TACLOBAN CITY – The City Government of Tacloban thru Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Strategic Planning on Tourism Development with Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) represented by university officials University President Dominador O. Aguirre Jr., Vice-President for Research Development and Extension Lilian Estorninos and Vice-President for Admininistration Felixberto Avestruz along with US Peace Corps Volunteer Jillian Strong.
EVSU is closely working with the City Government on consolidating the results of their recently concluded surveys on tourism-related establishments and tourism satisfaction, and in the conduct of focus group discussions with the city’s business and tourism provider sectors. These consolidated results will be used to come up with a Value Chain Analysis for Tourism in Tacloban and will be integrated into the proposed Tourism Development Plan of the City.
The purpose of this partnership is to strengthen the extension programs of EVSU, as well as boost Tacloban City’s economy, and to create more livelihood opportunities for Taclobanons through the tourism industry. -GARRETH EDUARD NOVILLO/CIO
